"However, the most grandiose plan came in October 1949, when McDonnell proposed ambitious production of the F2H-2 Banshee (Anm: nach 1962 F-2B) for the Navy and F-88A for the Air Force. Under this plan, McDonnell would control the engineering and produce both models, and it would license Goodyear Aircraft Corporation to manufacture the F2H-2 and General Motors to build the F-88A.
McDonnell would attain a peak delivery rate of 150 F2H-2s per month by subcontracting half the work to a nearby Lincoln-Mercury plant and 150 F-88As per month by subcontracting half the work to the Fisher Body plant in St. Louis. In addition, Goodyear would produce 850 F-88As per month at three plants - 213 at Kansas City, 273 at Tulsa, and 364 at Cleveland. Westinghouse would produce J34 engines in Kansas City to supply McDonnell and the General Motors plants in Kansas City and Tulsa. Chrysler would produce J34s in Detroit to supply Goodyear and the General Motors plant in Cleveland. All totaled, McDonnell expected to produce the F2H-2 and F-88A for three years, resulting in 8.786 Navy and 15.046 Air Force airplanes."

- Hat jemand McDonnell gesagt dass der zweite Weltkrieg seit Jahren vorbei war?
- Hätte man Chrysler und General Motors damit retten können?
- Was würde Jar-Jar Gates zu solchen Produktionszahlen sagen?
